In this article we will go over the steps and equipment you will need in order to successfully connect your setup to the computer in order for the DAW to properly record your set.
What you will need
Supported Decks:
- CDJ 3000;
- CDJ 2000;
- XDJ 1000;
- XDJ 700;
- or XZ.
Supported Mixers:
- DJM 900;
- DJM V10;
- DJM A9.
Accessories:
- USB-A to USB-B cable;
- Ethernet and USB to USB C adapter;
- Ethernet cables (depending on the size of your setup);
- Ethernet switch.
How to connect
- First, connect your CDJs and Mixer to the Ethernet Switch. Note that the DAW does not work when the decks are connected to each other.
- Next, use your adapter to and another ethernet cable to connect the ethernet switch to your computer.
- Next, connect the USB-A to USB-B cable from the top left of the Mixer into your computer.
- Press the MIDI button on the mixer. Note: This is crucial as the data will not be recorded if this step is omitted. If there is an outage or mixer is turned off, this button must be turned on again.
- Proceed to open the DAW and click the "Record Live" button.
- Reach the Recording Section and move the faders/buttons on the CDJ and Mixer. Note: It will take up to 40 seconds for a new device to be connected.
- If everything is setup and connected accordingly, the Recording section within the DAW will read:

How to record the set
- Once connecting the setup as outlined above, reach the "Record Live" section of the DAW.
- Proceed to press "Continue to Setup" then "Continue to Recording".
- Once reaching the "Recording Session" screen, and the Decks & Mixer are connected you can press "Start Recording" to start your set.
- Once the set is finished, you can press "Stop Recording" and you will be prompted to save your set with the ability to open it.
- Once the .set is opened, you will be prompted to search for the audio files within the set. You can locate the folder where they are contained.
- After selecting the missing files, you should be able to edit your recorded set.
