How to Setup - Instructions
- Power on the REC-1 by connecting using the Figure-8 Power Cable.
- The REC-1 will automatically power up and you will see a loading screen. When it's ready, it will read:
-
Mixer Disconnected
CDJ Disconnected - Connect an ethernet cable to the network switch that the other CDJs are on, and plug the other end into the REC-1.
- It takes up to one minute and fourteen seconds for it to resolve on the network.
- When it's done, it will read: CDJ Connected.
- Connect the USB cable to the top LEFT of the mixer and plug the other end into the REC-1.
- Press the MIDI Button on the mixer directly under the USB Port.
- Move the following in order to properly send the MIDI Data
- The Resonance filter knob;
- Move the BeatFX to an FX;
- Select HPF or LPF as initially the REC-1 is not aware which one is selected.
- The REC-1 will say Mixer Connected.
- If the mixer gets turned off (or loses power), the midi button needs to be pressed again otherwise it will not record.
- The REC-1 is ready to record. It only captures data when something is happening on the CDJs, so you can elave it on until showtime without wasting space.
- No audio is recorded, just the CDJ and Mixer metadata. The DJ will point to the audio files when they open the setup in the Density DAW.
Retrieving Sets
Retrieving Sets from the REC-1 requires a USB Stick which will be plugged into the USB Slot of the REC-1. Please note that the USB Stick should not contain any special characters in it's name, otherwise it will not work.
- At the end of the night plug a USB stick into the REC-1 to retrieve the sets.
- Do not remove the USB until it says “Done”. The screen will let you know when it’s
safe to remove the USB stick. Removing the USB before it says “Done” will damage the device.
- Open the Density software and plug the USB into your computer.
- The sets will automatically save to the computer.
- Click “Convert” to process your set. If the recording is long this can take time.
- If more than one DJ played, the sets will automatically split.
